The Alexander Technique

We translate everything whether physical, mental, or spiritual into muscular tension.

F. Matthais Alexander, 1869-1955

Alexander TechniqueThe Alexander Technique is an elegant mind/body system that heightens awareness through the gentle touch of a “teacher.” It helps release held tension, while encouraging body awareness and choice, presenting a new way of using yourself at rest or in any movement. Skills such as sports, playing a musical instrument, dance, working at a computer are enhanced.

The Alexander Technique is particularly helpful for people recovering from an injury, or chronic pain. It improves posture and encourages grace and ease in any activity.

Benefits of the Alexander Technique

  • Learn to relieve and prevent pain;
  • Reduce strain and muscular tension;
  • Find a better way to manage stress;
  • Improve posture, balance, and coordination;
  • Access a greater source of energy.

The Alexander Technique is primarily taught in private sessions, for either one hour or a half hour.  Once in a while, a session can take place at an office, behind a piano, or even in nature.  Sessions for 2 or more are also available by appointment.

Rupa has been teaching the Alexander Technique for over 30 years, the gentle approach and the power of touch is transformational. Her current practice is in East Dummerston Vermont near Brattleboro, and in Keene New Hampshire.
